For those of you who thought the guitar solo died in the 1970s, let me offer up the finest solo of the last decade.
Check out Nels Cline's outro solo in Wilco's "Impossible Germany" (starting at about 2:55 in this video).
Astounding. What is really amazing is that he does not (seem to, anyway) improvise this thing. Google other vids and it seems each is a carbon copy. Really quite amazing.
