Neko Case
June 1st 2009 00:26
I heard an interview with Neko Case on the XM radio program “The Bob Edwards Show”. Wow, what a down-to-earth, irresistible personality. She instantly comes across as someone you would love to just hang out with. Just plain irresistible. What a breath of fresh air in the current climate of either pre-fab pop or inauthentic posturing rock.
And, oh by the way, she has put out a really good record, Middle Cyclone. Currently, this is my front runner for best record of 2009. For a taste of the new record, amazon.com has here latest single available for free download: "People Got a Lotta Nerve"
Rediculously cool cover art, no? Neko has something to say, methinks.
Great record, great voice, great songwriter. In fact, I'll venture that she is the premier female singere/songwriter currenyl working today. Well worth checking out, if you haven't already.
Also check out here previous release Fox Confessor Brings the Flood which includes a couple of my favorite tracks from here: “That Teenage Feeling” and “Hold On, Hold On” (this song has the instantly immortal lyric “I leave the party at three a.m. / Alone, thank God / With a valium from the bride / It's the devil I love”)
