Neil Young - A Perfect Echo
December 30th 2009 21:24
I go through Neil Young phases every so often. His music is like a warm blanket that you crawl into on occasion. I first fell for Neil with the Harvest record. I got it for Christmas back in 1991 (or 1992). I still vividly remember driving around looking at Xmas lights and listening to those harunting acoustic sounds from the first side. That is a memory I will never shake.
Acoustic Neil was one of my main inspirations for learning to play the guitar. I owe him a big debt for that.
Later, I learned to appreciate Electric Neil from Rust Never Sleeps, but Acoustic Neil will always be my favorite.
Right now I am back on Neil because I heard his Live at Massey Hall record recently. I love the solo acoustic rendition of Cowgirl in the Sand. Priceless.
For those interested, Neil has a few good boots floating around. The most notable is A Perfect Echo. I thought I wouldshare my favorite portion of this mammoth collection, the first volume.
